Encana donation of $1 million to RDC celebrated by M. Guak, June 17, 2010, Red Deer College
A $1 million donation from Encana Corporation to Red Deer College was marked Wednesday with a walk-through of the kind of work that will be done in the newly christened Encana Centre for Flexible Learning. … Encana representatives were on hand for the event. “It’s very important to offer this type of innovative learning,” said Mike Forgo, Encana vice-president of business services and stakeholder relations. “I know I’ve got three teenagers and they don’t learn the same way that I used to learn anymore.” College president Joel Ward said the facility, in the Four Centres building, should be completed by September. “It’s also a place where faculty can come and practice and try different technologies, as well, to see if that’s something they want to incorporate into their classroom,” said Ward. … Matching dollar-for-dollar funding from the province means that RDC’s Building Communities Through Learning campaign will ultimately receive $2 million.
