Explosion destroys one home, damages several others by Dan Singleton, September 15, 2007, Calgary Herald
A single-family home was destroyed and several adjacent homes severely damaged after an explosion in the town of Bentley, 28 kilometres northwest of Red Deer, on Friday. “The debris field covers approximately 150 to 200 metres from the residence itself,” said Sylvan Lake RCMP Const. Jay Peden. “One of the adjacent homes was set ablaze as a result of the explosion.” There were no reported injuries and all family members have been accounted for and notified, Peden said. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation by fire investigators after police ruled out criminal intent. Police from several RCMP detachments, as well as Bentley and Lacombe firefighters, and EMS personnel attended the scene.
