Winter said despite the company’s assurances, the risk to the aquifer is too high. “We know things break down and things fail. And things fail when you least want them to. “We’re trying to be reasonable. We’re not trying to put (Intrepid) into any financial hardship.” Don Bester, of the Pine Lake Surface Rights Action Group, also feels the well is in the wrong spot. He believes the site is on a flood plain and said it is time the EUB stopped all oil and gas development in those kinds of areas.
