When it comes to dealing with the controversial mining practice of fracking, the words of advice from Queensland are “go cautiously.” Queensland farm lobby group AgForce is warning Victoria to do its homework before permitting fracking for coal seam gas. There’s currently a moratorium on fracking in Victoria, but it’s been permitted in Queensland for some years. … “Water resources, natural methane emissions… a lot of these things that should have been studied and actually the data collected before the industry started at all,” he said. “It is one of the really, biggest glaring faults that governments everywhere tend to promote the industry, say it’s got to happen, but haven’t done their homework first.” [Emphasis added]
